We are a Royal Yachting Association (RYA) Training Centre. RYA Instructors and Assistant Instructors will  teach you, usually with no more than two pupils per Instructor. We offer training and assessment through the RYA National Dinghy Certificate scheme Levels 1, 2 & Seamanship. It is possible for a beginner to obtain RYA Level 1 after only one weekend. However, to progress to RYA Levels 2 and Seamanship, practice to perfect skills taught on the courses will be required. We also undertake training and assessment for Assistant Instrutors.

Courses 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 & 6 - RYA Levels 1, 2 & Seamanship training and assessment.

Course 7 - Coastal Endorsement, RYA Level 2 and Seamanship only This is run at Whitstable.

RYA VHF Radio Course -Whitstable 

Teaches the full use of a VHF radio that includes instruction & licence exam fees. It provides the opportunity to gain the RYA VHF GMDSS Radio operator's certificate. Being held at Whitstable and open to Leaders , Fellowship and Network members over 16 years.

Topper Fun Day - Upnor on the River Medway

A chance for Scouts and Explorers to experience a day sailing single-handed Topper dinghies on tidal waters at Upnor on the river Medway. Beginners are welcome, also ideal for those who have been sailing perhaps once or twice and want to try Topper sailing.

Dinghy Instructors Course - Whitstable

Five day course for those who wish to become a tidal Dinghy Instructor.  Pre-requisite - Dinghy Pre-Instructor Course - Current First Aid Certificate.

Scout Dinghy Sailor Badge - Leybourne   

Suitable for Scouts who wish to achieve the Scout Dinghy or Basic Nautical Skills badge. This Leybourne lake event provides an ideal introduction to dinghy sailing to enable the Scout to work towards the RYA Start Sailing Stage 1 and Stage 2 award.

This is a course for those wishing to take their RYA Tidal assessment having previously attended a training course or have the experience.

RYA Dinghy Sailing Coastal Course - Whitstable

The chance for practice, consolidation of knowledge and assessment on tidal waters at Whitstable, to the standard of RYA Level 2 and Seamanship coastal endorsements. Open to all leaders and members age 13 plus who have obtained RYA Level 2 non tidal or above.

Sailing Permit Assessment   -  Bewl

Various water activity assessment opportunities have been provided during the year as part of the introduction of the Adventurous Activity Permit scheme. During this event members will be able to demonstrate their skills and aptitude to taking scouts afloat. (see factsheet FS 120100). Alternative dates can be agreed directly with the appropriate assessor if required.
