Network - Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Q. What is Scout Network?

A. It is a section open to all people aged 18-25 years old.

Q. Who exactly can be a member?

A. Any Scouter in the age range from any section in the District can become a member.
    Anyone who has Scout Membership eg at University, is able to join.
    Non scouting people within the age range can also join and become invested members.

Q. Who runs the section?

A.  The members themselves for their own benefit and enjoyment .
     There should be at least Chairperson and treasurer
     There should be a District Leader who will be the focal point.
     Programme activities are planned by the Unit and can be run by any member of the unit.

Q. What are the benefits of being a Scout Network member?

A.  The section offers the opportunity for people in the same 18-25 year old age group
      to take part in “scouting” activities with people of a similar age, without the added   
      responsibility of looking after Beavers, Cubs, Scouts or even Explorers.

      So if you want to go sailing, canoeing, climbing, abseiling, camping, hiking or any
      adventurous activity without the worry of the welfare of younger people………
      The Scout Network section is for you.

      The Diamond, Platinum, Queen’s Scout and Duke of Edinburgh’s Awards can all be  
      be completed in the Network section.

Q. How often does the section meet?

 A. As often as the members decide.

Q. Is any further training required?

A. Only if a member wishes to be qualified in an adventurous activity eg an instructor
    for canoeing or climbing.
