Narrow Boating - Permit Holders

The Narrow Boating Permit refers to the type of boats that are traditionally operated on inland waterways. They are powered by engines, and although originally used to transport freight, often now include onboard facilities and accommodation.

Narrowboats are narrow enough to use canals and include boats commonly known as Broad Beam and Dutch Barge.

A Narrow Boating permit is required for all narrow boating taking place in any class of water. There is only one type of permit available for narrow boating; Leadership.

Leadership Permit, allows the permit holder to lead narrow boating for a single boat

The Tick below indicates the level of permit granted, to either Lead or Supervise, for further clarification ask the Permit Holder, the Responsible Commissioner or the Permit Registrar. A current First Aid qualification to be held by the named instructor or by another person on the activity.
