Scout Active Support allows people over the age of 18 years to give their time to Scouting in a flexible way that suits them. Adults can still be involved in Scouting without the full-time commitment of being a leader.
There is no requirement to have been involved in Scouting before joining. All that is required is a willingness to volunteer some time to support Scouting.
Our Activities team is made up of Scout Active Support Units (SASUs) who focus on specific activities.
We would like to invite Scout Active Support Units from Kent to an afternoon of fun at Lower Grange Farm. All are welcome to come along and take part or simply watch others! We are inviting the County Network to come along too.
The afternoon will consist of the chance to chat and share ideas about what your Active Support Unit gets up to and also take part in the Ballista Challenge.
Bring along your ballista (or the equipment to make it on the day!) we can supply four sets of equipment should you not have access to poles, together with rope and instructions – it can be any size you want but it has to fire a ping pong ball and the winners of the one that can shoot it the farthest will win the “Golden Ping Pong Ball Trophy”.
After the challenge there will be a barbecue prepared for you. For those not wishing to participate you can watch and cheer on your friends whilst drinking tea!
We do hope you will come along – please let us know the numbers from your Scout Active Support by the 12th September July so we can cater appropriately. This year we have to make a small charge of £3 per person. (Please advise of any dietary needs i.e. vegetarian).

I’m Beccy Martin – one half of a double act with Bunty Ridgway!
We’ve worked alongside each other now for almost 20 years supporting Cub Scouting in the county, events and now the Scout Active Support. I have been involved in Scouting for over 40 years now and am really looking forward to this new challenge and getting to know you all. I’ve experience of organising large events, fundraising and recently was a Scout Association volunteer team member who helped to write the Centenary Cub Programme.
If you have something going on in your District please let us know about it and we can spread the word!
Currently I am a member of two SAS’s – Medway and Lower Grange Farm where I co-ordinate a team of helpers, several of whom are members of various SAS’s in the County. We run Badge courses for Beavers, Cubs and Scouts. I am also involved in the Christmas Parties held each year for the Beavers and Cubs and the weekly work parties improving and maintaining facilities at the Centre.
I hope to meet you all very soon!
