Maidstone East Celebrate 90 years of Cub Scouting
On 24th June 2006 70 Cub Scouts and their Leaders gathered at Hamlet Wood in Maidstone to celebrate 90 years of Cub Scouting.
The District Cub Scout Leaders organised many activities for the Cubs to take part in that blended traditional Scouting with modern ideas.
Activities included a bouncy castle, coconut shy, popcorn popping on an open fire, kite making, a Monkey Bridge, Games Workshop modelling, spinning wheel to win sweets, sharp shooting and face painting.
The Cubs were occupied throughout the whole day and were never seen with anything less than a beaming smile. Many also surprised themselves and faced a new challenge by walking across the Monkey Bridge.
The day ended with everyone gathering round a traditional camp fire, singing silly songs and eating birthday cake! Everyone had a great time and celebrated the Birthday in style!
