ADC's District reps trip to Brownsea Island
23-24th September 2006
31 of us met at the quayside at Poole harbour ready to catch the 12:20 pm ferry across to Brownsea Island on Saturday.
It was a really sunny day and the whole event went like clock work!. Their were 14 Districts represented ranging from very experienced ADC's and Beaver Leaders to Ben Turner one of our youngest warranted section Leaders aged 19 years!
After settling in and having a well earned supper after a steady 20 minute walk to the Lodge we proceeded to get the business of the day done. We discussed District plans for 2007, up dates from HQ and County New and events for the Centenary.
Everyone was given time to explore the Island, visit the Trading post, and the spot where the 1st Scout camp took place! We all spent a pleasant evening having fun and reinforcing friendships over a glass or two of wine and a BBQ. The setting was perfect!
Allowing people to sit and chat, play a mad game called Spoons! Take part in a couple of Kathy's quizzes or just sit and enjoy the peace and quiet listening to the sea lapping at the waters edge. Some thing for everyone! Time to recharge those batteries! We swapped programme ideas on Sunday morning which was a great opportunity for everyone to mix and have a chat.
Leaders had the chance to view a presentation of ' The Big Event! ' We saw bats, red squirrels, deer and those cheeky peacocks that pinched Ben's sandwich while we were at the Scout Own.
After lunch we wandered back to catch the ferry. Back to the busy mainland and reality once again! This turned out to be such a special weekend for everyone!
