West Kent Area Cub - Incident Hike
Sunday 28 September 2008
Cubs from the four Districts, Sevenoaks, Weald, Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells arrived at Ide Hill village hall on a bright sunny warm day to complete a 5-6 mile incident hike.
Cubs in teams of six, each team were accompanied by 2 adults for support and safety. At each base the adults and boys were given separate tasks and given points.
Some bases were practical, tent pitching, throwing small balls into nets; others were questions on mapping and breeds of dogs which was appropriate as there were four dogs walking too! We were able to use farms and some houses for bases.
The teams having completed 8 bases then hiked back to the village hall for hot dogs and drinks kindly provided by Tonbridge Fellowship. Everyone received a certificate for participating and the boys gained their Hikers Badge.
Base winners received certificates’ and the top teams each cub a received medal. We were delighted to see Bunty who was able to pop in having just had an operation on her back, thanks to Ken for bringing her!
The winning trophy was presented to the winners, 1st Sevenoaks and 2nd Tonbridge Packs, by Tony Constable County Area Cub Scout Leader.
As this was our first area event everyone seemed to have enjoyed it and thoughts are now turning to the next event.
A HUGE thank you to the many folk involved in making the day A GREAT SUCCESS. WELL DONE!
