Kent Scouts is one of biggest mixed youth organisations in the county. We change lives by offering 6 to 25-year-olds fun and challenging activities, unique experiences, everyday adventure and the chance to help others so that we make a positive impact in communities.
Kent Scouts has over 1600 young people waiting to join as well as areas that do not currently provide scouting in the local community.

County Executive – Trustee Vacancies
The County Annual General Meeting takes place on Saturday, 7th October 2017 at the Corn Exchange in Rochester. If you want to have a voice in how the County supports local Scouting this is your opportunity to apply for one of two vacancies as a trustee/member of the County Executive.
The County benefits by having a diverse mix of trustees so if you are interested in ensuring we provide the best quality Scouting for as many young people as possible please stand for election to the County Executive.

Growth and Development Officers - 3 positions
We have an exciting opportunity for three part-time Growth and Development Officers to join our team. You will support the delivery of the county’s growth and development plans; deliver focussed growth projects working closely with volunteers in Kent.
Outline of Role:
You will play a key role in helping to grow and develop the Scout movement in Kent, working with staff, adult leaders, and other volunteers to promote the growth of Scouting through a wide range of projects, initiatives and events.
As an enthusiastic team player with a good understanding of the challenges facing a wide range of communities (including rural, urban and BME), you must also be able to work flexibly, including frequent travel and evening/ weekend work. Outstanding interpersonal skills are essential. This is a home based role but a full driving licence with access to a vehicle is essential.
The salary is a competitive £10 per hour, for 10 hours a week with flexible working hours. This is a fixed term contract until September 2018 with a possible extension after that period.

Apprentice Activity Instructor
We have an exciting vacancy for someone to join the team as an Apprentice Activity Instructor, based at Kent Scouts Activity Centre, Maidstone.

What will I be doing?
You will teach a variety of outdoor activities to School and Scout Groups and the general public. Our activities include Archery, Caving, Rifle Shooting, Zorbing team challenges and journeys into the countryside. You will be involved in organising events in the day and evenings for our groups. As a member of a small team you must be customer focused to ensure our guests needs are met, while representing the Centre and Kent Scouts. You will be working towards Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Activity Leadership, Level 2 Award in Introductory Work in the Outdoors and Awards in Employment Awareness in Active Leisure and Learning. All of which will help you kick start your career in this exciting and rewarding industry. Alongside specific qualifications in outdoor and adventure sports such as GB Archery instructor and CWA (Climbing Wall Award)
- To assist with the instruction of groups of people of all ages in a range of activities, including archery and problem solving, as determined by the Line Manager and in accordance with training and qualifications
- To run activity sessions as and when qualifications and experience allows
- To assist with the planning and delivery of training sessions
- To communicate effectively with customers of all ages
- To ensure all participants have a safe and enjoyable experience
- To complete any documentation required relating to group sessions
- To maintain facilities and equipment, including storage, in line with defined standards
- To test equipment prior to use, and at regular intervals, to ensure safe and effective operation
- To be aware the Centre represents the public face of Scouting and to conduct themselves and all activities in a manner which promotes and enhances the organisation’s safeguarding policies, image and reputation

A group looks up to our Activity Instructors, so we are looking for someone who is a great role model and is able to motivate, through effective communication and make every guests day with us one to remember.

Climbing and Multi-activity Instructors
We are looking for keen outdoor people to come and join our team at Kent Scouts Activity Centre. We have a fantastic four acres site just outside of Maidstone in Kent with excellent climbing facilities, conference spaces, and a range of other outdoor activities.
Kent Scouts Activity Centre is looking for climbing and multi activity instructors due to our continued growth and development. The hours of work will be between 8am and 10pm Monday - Sunday with the majority of work initially, during the early evening and weekends. This will be on a flexible basis as we continue to develop giving some flexibility to the successful candidate with the security of full time employment.
The centre is going through a period of development following the appointment of a new management team and we are seeking applications from individuals who want to grow and develop along with us to create the best outdoor centre in the south of England.
You will be delivering a range of activity and development programs to a variety of groups such as schools, Scouts, NICAS, GCSE and volunteers.
Applicants should have an interest in outdoor sports and activities, be able to demonstrate a wide variety of skills, communicate well with young people and be a great team-player.
We are ideally looking for an individual who has previous centre experience and holds NGB qualifications.
- CWA ( Ideally with a Abseil endorsement) or equivalent
- GB Archery Leaders Award (GNAS)
- SPA/Southern Sandstone Award
- A Walking qualification; such as BEL/WGL/ML/LLA
- British Cycling MTB level 2
This role offers excellent opportunities for progressing professional skills and gaining further qualifications. A full DBS disclosure and proof of right to work in the UK will also be required.
Full Time - 38 hours per week
Salary £14,861 per annum
