Crafty Cubs at Christmas

Christmas Crafts was the theme for this year’s Area Activity for Cubs from Dartford, Gravesham, Swanley and the Medway Towns, that took place at Hopehill Campsite, Meopham on 19th November.

Fourteen bases manned by ‘crafters’ from our area - leaders and Scout Active Support, gave Cubs the opportunity to fulfil parts of the Artist, Chef, DIY and Entertainer Activity Badges  as well as the Creative Challenge and Kent Invicta Award.   So the day saw the young people making Christmas cards, decorations, presents, icing a gingerbread star and making a cupcake look like a pinecone or snowman and more.  Everyone wrote their letter to Father Christmas and posted it in the postbox, to be forwarded to Lapland.    So necessary to post early for Christmas!!

The day drew to a close with Father Christmas leading the campfire with a medley of Christmas songs and Cubs doing other Christmassy bits.

The event was organised and run by Father Christmas’s helpers:  ‘Elfy Eating, ‘Elf Care, ‘Elf ‘n Safety’, Good ‘Elf and Mental ‘Elf!!   Thanks to them and everyone else for making the day a success.
