GPS trackers

Planning a hike or expedition? Kent Scouts has a fleet of tracking devices allowing you to check the progress of your walking teams remotely in real-time.

There are currently 42 stand-alone devices with the ability to add your own mobile devices to the tracking portal (useful for tracking assets like minibuses on large events).

The trackers are hired out to Kent Scout Groups/Districts for £3 per device to cover a single event - e.g. over a weekend. This charge covers the mobile data usage and ongoing maintenance of the devices.

Trackers are supplied with cases, chargers and instructions. For more information and to book, please contact Simon Corrigan.

How much do the trackers cost to hire?

The trackers are hired out for £3 per tracking device to cover an event (e.g. a weekend hire).

How long do the batteries last?

The batteries should normally last 2-3 days sending updates every minute or so. We can also configure them to send updates on a less regular basis - e.g. every 5 minutes, meaning that they can last 7-10 days - perfect for longer expeditions.

How do we access the tracking information?

We will provide you with an account to access the tracking portal which can viewed through a normal web browser. This will show the trackers overlaid on a map (OS Map by default).
