A Warm Welcome

This page brings together a range of resources you can email or print to help welcome adults—whether they’re parents of young people new to your sections or volunteers. It also includes links to key, in‑depth information for anyone starting their journey with us.

Parent Postcards

Parent postcards are great for communicating with parents of young people who have recently joined a section. They offer a concise overview of what the section involves, outline the types of activities their young people may take part in, highlight the core values of Scouts, and provide a link to more detailed information.

You can download them from The Brand Centre here.

Adult Volunteer Postcards

These postcards are ideal for emailing to people when they make an initial enquiry about volunteering and, essentially, they cover the benefits of volunteering for Scouts. As they are brief, they're good to send potential volunteers when you are inviting them to an initial meeting or arranging a phone call to discuss them joining your group or section.

They also work well alongside the parent postcards mentioned above, helping to encourage parents of new young people to get involved.

They can be downloaded from the Scouts Brand Centre and the link is here.

Welcome Packs

Everyone approaches being new in their own way. While some people appreciate having someone talk them through what to expect, others prefer a checklist or a welcome pack they can look through independently. The Scouts have created detailed packs that  include information on the following:

  • Our Scout values
  • What we wear
  • The volunteering journey & learning
  • The joining process
  • A jargon buster
  • An editable section for local information

They can be downloaded and you can choose from full colour or low ink.
