There are a growing number of ambassadors in Kent Scouts now who can come along and run a Scouts Against Malaria badge session for you.

Badge Requirements

The badge is available to wear on their uniform as an occasional badge and can be earned by individuals, sections or a number of sections coming together. Malaria is endemic in all tropical regions of the world. It is caused by a parasite that lives in the mosquito and is passed on when the host bites someone.

To earn you badge you need to undertake the following challenges:-

  1. Understand the nature and severity of malaria, the illness, especially in young children.

  2. Understand how malaria is contracted.

  3. Understand how malaria can be prevented.

  4. Help to raise funds to reduce the incidence of malaria. This will enable the purchase of impregnated mosquito nets and may also include the provision of material to educate people about malaria.
