Invicta Mountaineering Club
The IMC was conceived as a club formed entirely from volunteers from within Scouts and Guides of Kent. As it's name suggests, their role is to provide and encourage the safe participation in all aspects of mountaineering including hillwalking, climbing and scrambling for Kent Scouts members.
The IMC aim to run a minimum of three events every year which are open to all 14+ Scout members. The majority of the Clubs events are camping based. However, there are events that offer, or are based around indoor accommodation. It is very dependant on the location and nature of the event and may include the occasional bothy or Youth Hostel.
The Club became a Scout Active Support Unit in 2013. All events are run in accordance with the Policy, Organisation and Rules of the Scout Association and although the vast majority of club events take place in the UK, it does make the occasional foray abroad.
As well as have-a-go weekends for young people and adults, the club provide formal training, instruction for permits and assessments. They also offer advice and guidance and experience for those looking to develop their log-books.
